Night falls on the Pacific Coast in Ft. Bragg in Mendocino County
Driving north toward Oregon, first on Route 1 and then Route 101, you come to a scenic byway called the Avenue of the Giants. Of course it refers to the wonderful Redwoods. There are even a couple you can drive through. This one is in Leggett and the white car is ours, with me at the wheel. We barely made it. Someone built a hobbit village in the forest in the 60s and not much is left but there is Gandalf
The picturesque Victorian town of Ferndale in Humboldt County, on the coast near the Oregon border. We had a nice lunch at the Victorian Inn and marveled at the lovely homes and B&Bs. One was called the Shaw house. Jasa Dickson's maiden name is Shaw.

	The Russian River rises near Willits California and flows through many vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties before it finds the sea, here in Jenner, California - More Info
